JS 465: Senior Research Project

4 Semester Hours. This course provides a capstone experience for senior Justice Studies majors. It is available only to Justice Studies majors and must be taken during their last term in the degree program. The course consists of four elements: (1) an observation experience at an office or agency engaged in the application of theories and concepts in a subfield of Justice Studies; (2) an issue paper on a contemporary issue facing criminal justice leaders at the national, state, or local levels and presentation of this research to selected full-time faculty at Athens State University; (3) a supervised review of selected professional literature, and (4) a sufficient score on an externally validated exit exam. Students should consult with their academic advisor prior to registration for this course.
