Independent and original investigation of a specific aspect of Italian literature of special interest to the student, under the supervision of a departmental advisor. Students will read primary and secondary texts and determine a critical methodology in preparation for the writing of the thesis. Completion of a thesis prospectus and acceptance by the student's proposed thesis supervisor are prerequisites for admission to 499. Prerequisites: Limited to majors in their senior year with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and a GPA of 3.25 in the major. Students should have completed at least 6 courses for the major.
