3 credits Prerequisites: PIA 101 and 137. Students who are interested in conducting psychological research can obtain faculty sponsorship to participate in an ongoing research project. The purpose of the course is to prepare students for the more intensive Directed Individual Research course (PIA 490), in which students design and conduct their own research project. In the practicum, students will engage in laboratory work, such as collecting and analyzing data or working on lab computers. Students may work in any of the laboratories of the Department of Psychology on projects in animal behavior, physiological psychology, human perception, human learning and memory, biofeedback, or social psychology. Before registering, interested students must contact the department Chair and fill out the Agreement for Practicum in Experimental Psychology.
