Readings typically are from Congreve, Dryden, Etherege, Gay, Farquhar, Gold- smith, Johnson, Pope, Sheridan, Swift, Thomson, and Wycherly, with attention to both the development of drama following its suppression as well as satire and the sublime in poetry.
