Thesis is open only to the final year students in the Philosophy and Religion major whose accumulative GPA is 3.00 and higher (students with accumulative GPA below 3.00 should do an independent study or an additional elective course instead of the thesis). It is intended to give students the opportunity to explore a topic of their choice in greater depth and sophistication than is possible in other modules. Quality of thought, coherence of argument and the competence and judgment shown in investigating the chosen topic are more important than the length or quantity of work, but the essay has a word limit of between 8,000 and 12,000 words.
