SKI 120: Orientation to the Snowsports Industry

The purpose of SKI 120 is to give students an overview of the snowsport industry through the utilization of a variety of snowsport professionals. The course will be taught through the use of classroom lectures, demonstrations, guest lectures, and attending industry trade shows. Students will gain knowledge, skills and understandings that are specific to the snowsport industry. Students will begin to develop a professional rather than recreational view of the industry. After completing this course, students will be able to select and identify where and how they would like to begin or further their participation in the ski industry. This is a required first course for all students in the UMF Ski Industries Program. Fall semester. (Placed on the Inactive Course List Fall 2009) Credit: 4

The class will focus on setting practice courses, sectional drill courses, and USSA (United States Ski and Snowboard Association) and FIS (International Ski Federation) sanctioned courses.
