    This fundamental video class introduces students to the basics of video & time-based media production and aesthetics. The course includes screening of video works, in-class demonstrations of equipment and techniques, discussions, and assignments of time-based media concerns in the creations of images and sound track for video and other media. Using digital video equipment class members produce works that pursue fine art and experimental directions. Prerequisite(s): Sophomore standing and knowledge of the Macintosh OS. Once a year.     A deeper exploration of Adobe Photoshop designed to make use of advanced techniques of image masking, compositing, creation of graphic elements, use of filters and artistic manipulations. The course is presented in an open format emphasizing experimentation, creative uses of the program and professional practices.     Throughout history of art, artists have explored a variety of materials, both high- and low-tech, which best suit their particular form of expression. Material Studies is a studio class, designed for advanced art students, interested in non-traditional materials as means to express one's view in a 3-D format. In this class the students will start the semester by exploring 4 materials. From their initial experiments (done in the first two weeks) students will narrow down their research to 1 material that they will study for the duration of the semester in order to thoroughly examine the physical and conceptual limitations of that material. In this class the students will utilize a hands-on approach, conduct experiments, and complete a research presentation/ paper on the material of their choice. This course can be repeated once for grade. Once a year. Credit: 4

    This course builds upon principles and techniques presented in ART 219. It will further look at the evolution of form and the content or meaning of sculpture. Students will pick 3 materials to focus on such as clay, wood, metal, plaster, wax, fabric, light, and found objects. Prerequisite(s): ART 219A. Once every two years. Credit: 4

    Advanced studio problems that respond to and incorporate relevant contemporary social theory, with an emphasis on the social and theoretical implications of the technological horizon. With a focus on notions of Truth, The Real, Utopia, and The Post Human the course will investigate the meaning of studio practice in a consumer driven society through the visual language of art.
