PREREQUISITES: None COURSE OBJECTIVES: Students will be exposed to an overview of the Marine industry, the different companies and the kind of work that they do, and the basic skills that are required to perform these jobs. Training will emphasize safety and hands-on training in handling and using lines and hard rigging. This training is required for every seafarer designated to provide medical first aid onboard ship. Completers receive a certificate - Medical First Aid Provider. PREREQUISITES: None COURSE OBJECTIVES: Students will learn to apply immediate first aid in the event of accident or illness on board by demonstrating knowledge, understanding and proficiency in: First-aid kit, Body structure and functions, Toxicology hazards on board, examination of casualty or patient, spinal injuries, burns, scalds, and effects of heat and cold fractures, dislocations and muscle injuries, medical care of rescued persons, radio medical advice, Pharmacology, sterilization, cardiac arrest, drowning and asphyxia.
