They will also be able to state and demonstrate that they have acquired knowledge and skills, which in some instances will enable them to identify and correct defects and prevent fire from occurring. Practical training utilizes live fire scenarios with real equipment and gear. Completers receive a certificate - Combined Basic and Advanced Firefighting. PREREQUISITES: None COURSE OBJECTIVES: Students will learn and gain practical experience with fire pumps, fire mains, hydrants, hoses, and nozzles, fire and smoke detecting systems, and fire extinguishers (CO2 and dry chemical) in extinguishing a galley fire and an engine room/bilge fire. Students also receive training in the use of self-contained breathing apparatus devices.
