The student continues the task of performing the 125 cases required to complete the entire Surgical Technology Program. According to CAAHEP Standards and Guidelines, student surgical technologist may not receive remuneration (payment) while performing in the role of student surgical technologist.PREREQUISITES: SURG 1101, SURG 1201, SURG 1301, SURG 1302, SURG 1401, SURG 2201, SURG 2301, SURG 2302 COURSE OBJECTIVES: 1. Perform sterile techniques required for scrubbing, gowning, gloving, establishing the sterile field. 2. Perform disinfection and sterilization procedures in the clinical area. 3. Prepare accessory supplies for use in surgical procedures in the clinical area. 4. Perform handling procedures for needles, sutures, and stapling devices in the clinical area. 5. Perform preoperative and perioperative routine procedures in the clinical area. 6. Provide safe preoperative and perioperative care under supervision. 7. Observe procedures used when assisting with endoscopic procedures and perform the equipment cleaning and disinfecting methods in the clinical area.
