Career management and professional growth focus will provide the professional nurse with a foundation for continuing and developing competencies. Students will implement Roy and Neuman's model for health assessment. The promotion of health and prevention of illness of individuals within various clinical settings will be experienced. Clinical placements will be designed to complement students' previous clinical experiences, strengthen physical assessment skills, enhance teaching skills and introduce students to a variety of professional roles. While didactic and clinical focus remains on the physiological mode, self-concept, role function and interdependence modes will be included so that the senior student appreciates adaptations required by all adult clients from diverse backgrounds. The nursing process and principles of disease prevention, health promotion, health restoration, health maintenance and end of life care complements the principles of care of the acutely ill adult.
