CONS 220: Construction Estimating

Prerequisite: MATH 129 and CONS 160 and CIS 105, or permission of instructor. This course guides students through a set of construction plans to make a material quantity survey, convert the material quantities to a monetary value, and add the cost of labor and equipment. This course further instructs students how to apply overhead and profit to produce a total monetary value to be tendered to an owner. Manual estimating is made as simple and as accurate as possible so that the student can learn how an estimate is made and how it is applied to the bidding process, the contract, and the follow-up procedures.
