This course is designed to give the advanced marketing student the opportunity to increase his or her knowledge in a specific area of marketing through the completion of marketing research study. Students will be expected to do independent research on a project approved by the instructor, read and defend papers, and participate in group discussions. A senior capstone seminar course that focuses on strategic planning, policy formulation, and the exploration of ethical dilemmas in business. Topics include: corporate social responsibilities, personal and corporate ethics, business regulation, and environmental concerns. Comprehensive and integrative case studies will be used. A study of the theory of word processing. Students will have hands-on experience using Microsoft Word software on the microcomputer. The hands-on use will provide an introduction and will proceed into advanced use which includes preparing and managing documents, formatting and enhancing documents, and customizing and adding visual appeal to documents. The other half of the course will emphasize the development of speed and accuracy in keyboarding and provide practice in applying skills used to the formatting for a variety of business communications. A course designed to train office personnel in reprographics, office communications, mail processing, telephone techniques, filing, and selection and operation of office technology. Professional image and conduct will be covered briefly along with the general working environment challenges and solutions. Prerequisite: BE 207 and ability to keyboard at a 40 wpm net rate on a 5-minute timed writing. When needed.

Will introduce basic graphic design principles and provide hands-on experience with desktop publishing hardware and page layout software. Students will create various business publications such as newsletters, advertisements, catalogs, promotional materials, announcements, etc. Prerequisite: BE 207 or consent of instructor. Alternate years.

Acquaints students with work in a variety of office environments. This course allows students to apply knowledge obtained in the classroom to a job situation and to develop human relations skills through actual work experience. Prerequisite: BE 224, junior/senior standing, or consent of instructor. Arranged individually during Interterm. Graded CR/NC.

A senior-level course in which students will each write a comprehensive business plan. This culminating project will become part of a business education candidate's portfolio. Prerequisite: Senior standing.

An integrated study emphasizing human conditions and the environment. Three laboratory hours per week. Spring semester.

A concentrated study of the principles and fundamentals of biology. Basic biochemistry, cellular structure and function, energetics, concepts of basic molecular biology, and genetics are included. Readings on the integration of Christian faith and science will be considered. A course for science majors. Three hours of laboratory per week. Fall semester.

A survey of the major animal groups with coverage of taxonomic, evolutionary, ecological, anatomical, and physiological topics. Three laboratory hours per week. Prerequisite: BI 110-G. Fall semester.
