An introduction to the technique of conducting choral ensembles, including proper beat patterns, cueing, expression, and score preparation. The music styles of the five major compositional periods will also be discussed, particularly in regard to their application in conducting. Teaching methods and materials appropriate for 7-12 will be included and a practicum in conjunction with the Teacher Education Department will provide students the opportunity for hands-on conducting and micro teaching in a classroom setting.
