1 hour credit Students experience an introduction to the art of performing without a script. Various creative forms of impromptu acting are explored throughout the semester to enhance student creativity and confidence performing before an audience.

3 hours credit This course is an overview of the history of dance from earliest societies to present. Dance as an art form and as a reflection of historical events, cultural factors, and controversies will be examined. An evolution of various forms of dance will be observed through readings, research, and video recordings.

3 hours credit Fundamental techniques and terminology of acting through physical and vocal expression. Emphasis is placed on characterization as developed through improvisation, vocal exercises, intention exercises, and awareness of body acting centers.

3 hours credit This is a course in which students explore, expand, and refine the properties of the human speaking voice, with the assumption that the student is a prospective professional in a field in which control, flexibility, and understanding of the voice are essential skills. Students are instructed in a series of voice and diction exercises and techniques to free the voice and improve projection, resonance, and articulation. The course additionally covers the sounds of the International Phonetic Alphabet employed in American English and standard stage speech.

Students will develop advanced dance combinations to enhance technical skills, memory, and performance qualities. Prerequisite: THTR 125 or permission of Instructor.

3 hours credit This course is an introduction to the theory and practice of modern stage movement and performance skills at the beginning level.

3 hours credit This course includes the theory and practice of modern stage movement at the advanced beginning level and the development of movement quality and performance skills. Prerequisite: THTR-0130 or permission of the instructor.

1 hour credit This course is an introduction to basic ballroom/social dancing including ballroom, Latin, country, and swing dances. Basic dance positions will be introduced, as well as etiquette, history, characteristics, lead/follow technique, terminology, amalgamations, and styles.

1 hour credit This progressive ballet system is designed to produce muscular strength, flexibility, and a working knowledge of anatomy, plus the aesthetic satisfaction of expressing yourself through a classical art form. This course is offered to students of all ages and experience, both beginners as well as those who have had some training.
