3 hours credit The intent of this course is to provide a link between muscular origin and insertion and the mechanics of muscular action. Knowledge of body mechanics and the body as a lever system will assist in the ability to analyze movement. Prerequisites: BIOL-0271, Physiology, BIOL-0272, Physiology Laboratory, MATH-0104, Intermediate Algebra, NASC-0130, Introductory Physics, PHTR-0130, Introduction to Physical Therapy.

3 hours credit An introductory course to the philosophical foundation of play, fitness, exercise, wellness and leisure. Various career opportunities in fitness, wellness, physical education and leisure field are explored. No on ground meetings are required for this course.

3 hours credit Student must complete a minimum of 200 hour field placement experience in a community-based or clinical-based agency under a certified exercise science professional. There are no on ground requirements for this course. Prerequisite: Exercise Science major and completion of at least 4 exercise science core courses.

3 hours credit This course will be a comprehensive overview of baseball techniques. Topics studied will include the elements of base running, defensive skills, hitting mechanics and philosophy, components of a sound pitching delivery, compiling statistics, as well as being able to develop a year around conditioning program.

2 hours credit This course will be a comprehensive overview of basketball techniques. Topics studied will include the elements of rebounding, man to man defensive skills, shooting mechanics and 3-point shooting philosophy, different types of zone defenses and offenses, different types of full court presses, ball handling skills, passing skills, setting screens, defending screens, outlet passing, and free throw shooting.

2 hours credit This course will teach all the fundamental techniques required to play soccer.

2 hours credit This course will teach students how to apply good soccer techniques effectively. Topics will involve decision making, how, where, and when to use a particular technique. Students will be developing a tactical awareness and understanding of the game of soccer, including positional play and offensive and defensive principles of soccer. Prerequisite Students need to have mastered the basic techniques of soccer. Ideally, students will be players on the college soccer team.

2 hours credit This course will condition students for playing soccer. The course is designed to meet the specific conditioning needs of the soccer player. Soccer is a high intensity, high speed and a very skill dominant game. The training in this course reflects that, as well as addressing all the fundamentals in terms of movement.

2 hours credit Techniques of strength training is designed to improve overall fitness. This is a sport specific course. Topics include proper mechanics of lifting and training, why stretching is important, target zone of heart rate to achieve maximum benefit from running, proper warm up, weight room safety, and injury prevention and care.

2 hours credit Techniques of Strength Training is designed for the exercise science major who desires to learn how to teach strength training. Emphasis is not on working out, but on the academics of strength and conditioning.
