4 hours credit Advanced ESL Writing/Grammar I includes integrated units of study in grammar and writing for the advanced level nonnative speakers and writers of English. Designed to bridge the gap between the study of English as a second language and the effective use of English in the college classroom, the course emphasizes writing and grammar. Prerequisite: Intermediate ESL Writing/Grammar II, ESOL-0071 or equivalent.

3 hours credit TOEFL Preparation provides three (3) hours of contact time per week and gives students the skills, strategies, practice and confidence they need to increase their scores on all sections of the TOEFL. Prerequisite: Permission of ESL coordinator.

3 hours credit Students whose first language is not English can increase their opportunity for success in future nursing courses, especially Fundamentals of Nursing and clinicals. Special attention will be given to the improvement of oral communication, reading comprehension, and multicultural understanding. Prerequisites: ESOL-0073, Advanced ESL Listening/ Speaking II or equivalent and ESOL-0079, Advanced ESL Writing/Grammar II or equivalent and HUDV-0101, Strategies for Academic Excellence/Lifelong Learning.

1 hour credit Students will meet as a group with an aqua aerobics instructor two times per week. Students are not expected to have prior understanding of aqua aerobics. The course will take place in a swimming pool and will include cardiovascular and resistance training to aerobic music led by a certified aquatic instructor. There may be many levels of participation, and the instructor will cater the class so that everyone can enjoy the instruction at their own level. This is also a chance to form new friendships, and meet people with similar interests. Prerequisites: Participants must be able to swim and have no fear of the water.

1 hour credit Instruction in skills, history, and etiquette of bowling is provided. The individual gains practice in fundamental skills and techniques. Students will be responsible for their own bowling fees. Ranch West Bowl charges a fee of $2.00 per game ($4.00 per week Fall, Spring, and $6.00 Summer session).

1 hour credit This course is designed for the child care giver. First aid and safety in the preschool years will be emphasized. CPR will also be taught. The student will be required to attend all 16 hours of the course to be certified by American Heart Association.

2 hours credit The theory and practice of first aid and safety are covered. Methods of administering first aid in case of accident or sudden illness; bandaging; resuscitation; and caring for wounds and injuries, CPR and AED training. First aid lab sessions are required for this course. Students can complete these lab sessions on ground at KCKCC Allied Health building during scheduled dates or complete the lab work under the supervision of a certified first aid instructor within your local area. Successful completion of this course results in certification by American Heart Association. Prerequisite: None. Basic computer skills and regular Internet access/skills. 1 hour credit This course examines significant and recent topics or development in the field of exercise science, wellness, health and fitness. It is also designed to integrate topics from a variety of disciplines and other health care providers in area which have common interest. Emphasis will be placed on current educational topics such as relaxation & stress management, weight management & nutrition, alternative medicine, new cardiovascular and strength exercise techniques, professional credentials, hypokinetic diseases, and fitness testing which have an immediate impact on the exercise science profession.

1 hour credit Instruction in etiquette, skills, rules, terminology, and practice in development of techniques and strategy in golf.
