3 hours credit Intermediate ESL Reading I provides three (3) hours of contact time per week and includes instruction, discussion, and practice in vocabulary, idioms, special expressions, and dictionary skills for intermediate level non-native readers. Cultural topics such as holidays, food taboos, body language, and the changing role of women are included for the purpose of increasing vocabulary and reading comprehension. Students are also asked to select outside reading materials. Prerequisite: Beginning ESL Reading II, ESOL-0063 or equivalent.

3 hours credit Intermediate ESL Reading II provides three (3) hours of contact time per week and includes instruction, discussion, and practice in vocabulary, idioms, special expressions, and dictionary skills for intermediate level non-native readers. Speed and accuracy of reading comprehension is also stressed. Prerequisite: Intermediate ESL Reading I, ESOL-0068 or equivalent.

4 hours credit Intermediate ESL Writing/Grammar I provides four contact hours per week and includes integrated units of study in grammar and writing for intermediate level non-native speakers and writers of English. This course is designed to provide practice in these skills to help bridge the gap between the study of English as a second language and the effective use of English in the college classroom classrooms. Prerequisite: Beginning ESL Writing/Grammar II, ESOL-0065 or equivalent.

4 hours credit Intermediate ESL Writing/Grammar II is a continuation of Intermediate ESL Writing/Grammar I. It provides four contact hours per week and includes integrated units of study in grammar and writing for intermediate level non-native speakers and writers of English. It is designed to provide practice in these skills to help bridge the gap between the study of English as a second language and the effective use of English in college classroom studies. Prerequisite: Intermediate ESL Writing Grammar I, ESOL-0070 or equivalent.

3 hours credit Advanced ESL Listening/Speaking I provides three contact hours per week and includes units of study in speaking and listening for advanced level non-native speakers of English. It is designed to provide practice in these skills to help bridge the gap between the study of English as a second language and the effective use of English in college classroom studies. Prerequisite: Intermediate ESL Listening/Speaking II, ESOL-0066 or equivalent.

3 hours credit A continuation of Advanced ESL Listening/Speaking I, this course is designed to improve listening, note taking, and pronunciation skills for non-native speakers and writers of English at an advanced level. Prerequisite: Advanced ESL Listening/Speaking I, ESOL-0072 or equivalent.

2 hours credit Advanced ESL Vocabulary I provides two (2) hours of contact time per week for the purpose of increasing vocabulary, reading comprehension, listening, and writing skills. New words are presented in the context of 25 thematic units such as governmental systems, chemistry, and sociology. Prerequisite: Intermediate ESL Vocabulary II, ESOL-0043 or equivalent.

2 hours credit Advanced ESL Vocabulary II provides two (2) hours of contact time per week for the purpose of increasing vocabulary, reading comprehension, listening, and writing skills. New words are presented in the context of 25 thematic units such as governmental systems, chemistry, and sociology. Prerequisite: Advanced ESL Vocabulary I, ESOL-0074 or equivalent.

3 hours credit Advanced ESL Reading I features authentic readings of broad appeal in the areas of sociology, art science, anthropology, business, and psychology. Prerequisite: Intermediate ESL Reading II, ESOL-0069 or equivalent.

3 hours credit Advanced ESL Reading II features twenty (20) timeless short stories of varying theme, approach, tone, and difficulty. Students are encouraged to explore the underlying meanings for each story, as well as each author's distinct literary style. Prerequisite: Advanced ESL Reading I, ESOL-0076 or equivalent.
