    3 hours credit This course is a multidisciplinary and a multicultural approach to the study of community economic development. It examines the theoretical and the practical aspects of community economic development with particular emphasis is on the socio-economic and political indicators. Critical issues such as income, jobs, the environment, sustainability, taxation, political participation, entrepreneurship and community resource mapping among others are addressed. Prerequisite: ECON-0201, Principles of Macroeconomics or ECON-0202, Principles of Microeconomics or consent of the instructor.

    3 hours credit This course is a multidisciplinary approach to the study of global political economy in general and GLOBALIZATION in particular. It is designed to introduce students to the basic concepts, theories and the history of contemporary globalization. To that end, competing theories and various historical epochs particularly the Post World War II era are discussed. Of particular interests are an examination of the impact of globalization on the nation-states' socio-economic and political structures, the nature and the scope of global capitalist class alliance, capital/labor relations, war and peace, global inequality, environmental issues, and human rights. Prerequisite: Principles of Economics (micro or macro), or Sociology, or Geography, or International Relations.

    3 hours credit The goal of the course is increase awareness of self in relation to the roles of teachers. Career opportunities in education are considered. Field experience is an important component of the course. It consists of three hours observing at three school levels (elementary, middle, and secondary) and six hours interacting with practicing professionals (e.g., regular-classroom and special-area teachers, administrators, school psychologists, school counselors, and speech therapists). Group discussion is a second important component of the course. The discussions focus on reactions to the field experience, with emphasis on relating observations to self.

    2 hours credit The course is an introduction to the psychological study of children and adolescents and their behavior in the school setting. Emphasis is placed on techniques of observing individuals and describing their characteristics. Twelve hours of observations in various classroom settings to observe individuals at different age levels and identify cognitive, socio-emotional, and psychomotor developmental patterns, is required.

    3 hours credit This class encourages an approach to teaching and learning that is based on cultural pluralism and an interdependent world. It promotes the concept of equal access and educational excellence among all children and youth. Students are introduced to the integration of multicultural perspectives into traditional curriculum and methods of instruction. The content of this class focuses on the social constructions of class, ethnicity, gender, and culture.

    3 hours credit EMTC-0101 is an introductory course in pharmaceutical arithmetic that assists students in solving the mathematics of drugs and solutions encountered in the everyday routine of administering medications. Drug actions and interactions on the human body are discussed.

    4 hours credit The EMTC-0105 course provides the opportunity to gain the knowledge and develop the skills necessary to administer basic life support care to ill or injured patients, and upon defined successful completion, apply for certification as a First Responder in the state of Kansas. EMTC-0105 must be successfully completed with a grade of "C" or better. Dueto State of Kansas requirements discussed at the first class, attendance of the first class session is mandatory. Prerequisite: ACCUPLACER score of 65+.

    8 hours credit The EMT courses (EMTC-0123 and EMTC-0124) provide the opportunity to gain the knowledge and develop the skills necessary to administer basic life support care to ill or injured patients, and upon defined successful completion, apply for certification as an EMT in the state of Kansas. Ten clock hours of clinical work, in addition to scheduled class time, are required. EMTC-0123 must be successfully completed with a grade of "C" or better prior to taking EMTC-0124. Dueto State of Kansas requirements discussed at the first class, attendance of the first class session is mandatory. Prerequisite: ACCUPLACER score of 65+.

    4 hours credit The EMT courses (EMTC-0123 and EMTC-0124) provide the opportunity to gain the knowledge and develop the skills necessary to administer basic life support care to ill or injured patients, and upon defined successful completion, apply for certification as an EMT in the state of Kansas. A minimum of ten clock hours of clinical or field work, in addition to scheduled class time, are required. This will be scheduled through your instructor. EMTC-0123 must be successfully completed with a grade of "C" or better prior to taking EMTC-0124. Dueto State of Kansas requirements discussed at the first class, attendance of the first class session is mandatory. Prerequisite: Successful completion of EMTC-0123 with a grade of "C" orbetter. ACCUPLACER score of 65+.

    10 hours credit The EMTC-0128 course provides the opportunity to gain the knowledge and develop the skills necessary to administer basic life support care to ill or injured patients, and upon defined successful completion, apply for certification as an EMT in the state of Kansas. A minimum of ten clock hours of clinical or field work, in addition to scheduled class time, are required. This will be scheduled through your instructor. EMTC- 0128 must be successfully completed with a grade of "C" orbetter. Due to State of Kansas requirements discussed at the first class, attendance of the first class session is mandatory. Prerequisite: Accuplacer Reading score 65+ or equivalent, and Kansas First Responder Certification or equivalent or Human Anatomy and Lab (BIOL-0141) or equivalent or Human Anatomy and Physiology (BIOL-0143) or equivalent; OR Instructor Approval.
