3 hours credit This course will instruct the student in the hands-on installation of a Linux Web Server. The basic commands needed to administrate and manage the Linux OS using the command line structure will be covered as well. In addition to the installation of a Linux Web Server, the student will get practical experience in the management of the Web Server and services that can include: WWW Server, FTP Server, Security and miscellaneous services. Prerequisite: CIST-0117, Local Area Networking.

3 hours credit This course explores a "user" directed computer language.The software is used to perform tasks that once required hours of coding and logic development. Topics and projects include planning, building, modifying, maintaining, and using a database, sorting and indexing a file. Keyboarding skills are beneficial. Prerequisites: CIST-0101 Computer Concepts and Applications or CIST-0111 Microcomputer Business Software.

3 hours credit JavaScript II continues with more advanced uses of JavaScript in Web Page Programming. Students will learn to use JavaScript with Dynamic HTML and use JavaScript with CSS Styles. Students will learn to set and read cookies and be introduced to security concerns with JavaScript. Server-side JavaScript Development with Netscape Live Wire and Microsoft Active Server Pages will be introduced. Students will receive an overview of connecting to databases with LiveWire and MS Active Server Pages. Finally, the use of JavaScript and Java in Web Development will be introduced. Prerequisite: CIST- 0152, JavaScript.

3 hours credit This course will further enhance and hone the students' data warehousing skills. The students will complete a project based on the needs of the community at the time of the course offering. Students will mine, develop, and load data, to create a data warehouse as a means of offering assistance to the community while at the same time gaining practical real world experience. Prerequisite: CIST-0154, Principles of Data Warehousing.

3 hours credit Web Database Connectivity provides students with the knowledge to connect a Web Server to various databases, construct web-based forms to retrieve information dynamically from databases and store information from consumer's input. Students will also learn the fundamentals of secure websites for e-commerce. Prerequisite: CIST-0137, HTML Web Page Development or CIST-0117, Local Area Networking.

4 hours credit This is the fourth of four semester courses designed to provide students with classroom and laboratory experience in current and emerging networking technology that will empower them to enter employment and/or further education and training in the computer networking field. Topics that will be covered include wide area networks (WAN), WAN design, point to point protocol (PPP), integrated services digital network (ISDN), frame relay, and advanced network management. Students will complete their design and documentation of a hypothetical network. This class uses the Cisco Academy Material, CCNA semester 4. Prerequisites: CIST-0216, Advanced WAN Internetworking (Cisco 3).

4 hours credit This course will prepare the student for work in a medium to enterprise computing environment that uses SQL Server, implementing relational databases in environments with the following characteristics: ? Heterogeneous databases ? SQL Server security integrated with Windows Authentication Client/server configurations of 50 to 5,000 or more users Web configurations that use Internet Information Services (IIS) or COM+ Databases as large as 2 TB Multiple installations of SQL Server ? ? ? ? Preparation for Microsoft Exam 70-029(MCSE elective). Prerequisites: CIST-0226, SQL Server.

Security includes: Controlling access to resources, Auditing access to resources, Authentication, Encryption. Student will demonstrate practical knowledge and will prepare for the Microsoft Certification Exam 70-220. (Windows 2000 Network Security-MCSE). Prerequisites: CIST-0161, System manager (windows 2003 Server).
