4 hours credit This course will provide the student with an overview of Data Mining. More specifically, students will be introduced to Data Mining techniques as applied to Marketing, Sales, and Customer support. Students will further be introduced to the relationship between Data Mining, On-line Analytical Processing (OLAP), and Relational On-line Analytical Processing as well as how Data Mining may be used to turn data into useful information. Prerequisite: CIST-0154, Principles of Data Warehousing.

4 hours credit This course is specially designed for troubleshooting, computer terminals, printers, modems, all kinds of disc drives and tape storage systems. Also, this course will include peripheral chips, their architecture and I/O bus structure. Students will also learn about control Rams for terminals, videos, disc drives and printers. Prerequisite: CIST-0117, Local Area Networking AND CIST-0143, Computer Operating System: (Windows XP).

4 hours credit This course examines how routers relay data on Wide Area Networks. It covers advanced configuration, and troubleshooting of routers. The students will learn how to configure network (LAN) switching, virtual LANs, LAN Design, interior gateway routing protocol (IGRP), access control lists (ACL), Novell IPX, and network management. Students will have hands-on experience with a variety of network layouts in a lab environment equipped with multiple operating systems (Windows 95/98), Windows NT, and others). The course is designed to provide students with classroom and laboratory experience in current and emerging networking technology that will empower them to enter employment and/or further education and training in the computer networking field. Students will design and document a hypothetical network. This class uses the Cisco Academy Material, CCNA semester 3. Prerequisite: CIST-0158, Introduction to Internetworking and Routers (Cisco 2).

4 hours credit This class covers the Microsoft 2003 Network Infrastructure used by server operating system. This class is designed to be a preparatory course for taking the Microsoft MCP exam 70-291. This certification exam measures your ability to install, manage, monitor, configure, and troubleshoot DNS, DHCP, Remote Access, Network Protocols, IP Routing, and WINS in a Windows 2003 network infrastructure. In addition, this provides the skills required to manage, monitor, and troubleshoot Network Address Translation and Certificate Services. Prerequisite: CIST-0161, System Manager (Windows 2003 Server).

4 hours credit This course covers the service and support of Microsoft 2003 Network Directory Services used by the server operating system. This class is designed to be a preparatory course for taking the Microsoft MCP exam 70-294. This class teaches skills needed to install, configure, and troubleshoot the Windows 2003 Active Directory components, DNS for Active Directory, and Active Directory security solutions. Refer to 'Special Class Fees' section for current class fee . Prerequisite:CIST-0161, System Manager (windows 2003 Server).

The course covers: 1) the elements of page composition, 2) publication design, 3) text construction, 4) typical hardware, and 5) business applications. Prerequisite: CIST-0101, Computer Concepts and Applications or CIST-0111, Microcomputer Business Software.

4 hours credit This course will provide the student with knowledge of SQL Server Software and provide an overview of the application of a relational database. Topics will include platform requirements, distribution architecture and operating system considerations. Software installation and configuration of SQL will be also be performed. Instruction will further include considerations for database building, creating tables, using constraints, indexes and establishing triggers. Additionally, this course will cover security, backup and data restoration. Preparation for Microsoft Exam 70-028 (MCSE elective). Prerequisite: CIST- 0161, System Manager (Windows 2003 Server).

3 hours credit This course will provide students with experience in real-world problem solving using event-driven programming techniques with the Microsoft? Visual Basic? programming language to manage information databases, graphics and other complex data formats as time allows. Students will also learn to employ the Microsoft? Windows? Applications Programming Interface (API) and third party function libraries to add sophisticated program capabilities not directly available from within Visual Basic?. Object oriented programming techniques and program code reusability will be emphasized. Prerequisite: CIST-0180, Visual Basic.

3 hours credit A study of the role information systems play in organizations. The course examines the influence information systems have on the objectives and structure of an organization. This course will focus on such topics as human aspects of computing, types of computer systems, and the general theory of systems. Prerequisite: CIST-0101, Computer Concepts and Applications or CIST-0111, Microcomputer Business Software.

3 hours credit Advanced Web Page Design teaches advanced techniques in the construction and maintenance of a web page/site through application software. Students learn how to design and develop the goals, audience, functions, and content for the project. The creation of template pages speed HTML production and unify the site's design. Students will learn that in order to distinguish a site from its competition, designers must create unique experiences, using a variety of Web technologies. Prerequisite: CIST-0137, HTML Web Page Development.
