3 hours credit Web Graphics and Multimedia provides graphic theory and hands-on exercises for web backgrounds, buttons, rollovers, GIFs, JPEGS, PNGs, animated GIFs, web safe color palettes, cluts, and swatches; alignment techniques; seamless tiles; transparent GIFs; web typography, vector animation; and other web imaging techniques for graphics and design. 3 hours credit JavaScript examines client-side JavaScript programming techniques. Students learn how to seamlessly integrate JavaScript code with HTML to bring interactivity to web pages. Students will learn how to use the Document, Navigator, Window, Location and History Objects, set and read Cookies, create image rollovers, write functions, and validate forms. Prerequisite: CIST-0137, HTML Web Page Development.

4 hours credit This course will provide the student with an understanding of the principles of data warehousing. Topics will include data model development, star schemas, snowflake schemas, and dimensional modeling. Metadata (formal descriptions of tables, columns, domains, and constraints will also be included. Students will have an understanding of what must be included in a data warehouse as well as ten mistakes to avoid. Prerequisite: CIST-0101, Computer Concepts and Applications.

4 hours credit This course examines how routers relay data on Local Area Networks. It covers installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of routers. The students will learn how to configure IP on different platforms and use simple networking tools for analysis. Students will have hands-on experience with a variety of network layouts in a lab environment equipped with multiple operating systems (Windows XP), Windows 2000, Cisco IOS and others). This class uses the Cisco Academy Material, CCNA semester 2. Prerequisite: CIST-0117, Local Area Networking.

4 hours credit Participants will learn how to manage the hardware and software of a Microsoft 2003 Local Area Network, as well as how to set up users, directories and security. Login scripts and System Console, File Management, Sessions, Print Management and utilities will provide participants with the ability to efficiently implement the Microsoft Server Software. Student will demonstrate practical knowledge and will prepare for the Microsoft Certification Exam 70-290. Prerequisite: CIST-0117, Local Area Networking & CIST-0143, Computer Operating System: Windows XP).

3 hours credit Spreadsheet applications will cover the fundamental aspects of any popular software package. Typically those subjects that will be presented are: 1) spreadsheet uses in business, 2) commands dealing with spreadsheet construction and editing, 3) typical business applications and 4) numerous practical projects. Prerequisite: CIST-0101, Computer Concepts and Applications or CIST-0111, Microcomputer Business Software.

1 hour credit This course explores assistive technology that can assist individuals with disabilities in fulfilling their educational and career goals. Students who take this course, can either focus on their own assistive technology needs or obtain an overview of assistive technology that can be used in their own career field. i.e. occupational therapy or education Prerequisites: CIST-0101, Computer Concepts and Applications.

3 hours credit This course explores computers examining such topics as the history of computers, computer applications, computer design, program translation, hardware, theory of computation, artificial intelligence, and how computers fit into society. Students will complete lab assignments that are designed to enhance the topics covered in the course modules. Prerequisites: CIST- 0101, Computer Concepts and Applications.
