3 hours credit The latest major approaches and techniques of management are presented. Consideration is given to the functions of management planning, organizing, staffing, leading, and controlling. Other areas of consideration are communication, motivation, dealing with change, decision making, quantitative tools, and production. Effective Spring 2005, if you are a Business major, you must have a "C" or better in all businesscourses to meet the requirements of the business degree program.

3 hours credit The general purpose of the occupational internship is to bridge the gap between work and college by insuring workplace skills meet the needs of students' career goals and the needs of the employer. The course is offered in conjunction with the Business Administratiom/Mid-Management program to fulfill the requirement for on-the-job training. Prerequisites: Completion of BUSN-0285 (Occupational Internship I) and consent of the Management Coordinator. 2 hours credit The course is designed to build and maintain critical skills necessary to be a dynamic and productive employee, team member, or leader within any organization. Students will gain insight on the impact of interpersonal and communication skills on individuals they meet, work with, and/or supervise. They will learn and model positive behaviors and attitudes and develop strategies to create positive human relationships and further their personal and professional development. This course features assessing personal strengths and weaknesses; setting goals for personal and professional life; analyzing human relations problems; applying problem-solving strategies to human relations issues in the workplace; and, defining and comparing management styles. Effective Spring 2005, if you are a Business major, you must have a "C" or better inall business courses to meet the requirements of the business degree program.

3 hours credit This course is designed to give students the tools and techniques for planning a productive meeting, facilitating a focused meeting, developing active participation, and effectively implementing meeting decisions. Participants will have multiple opportunities to observe and practice the actual application of skills and techniques, receive immediate feedback, and evaluate meeting effectiveness. Effective Spring 2005, if you are a Business major, you must have a "C" orbetter in all business courses to meet the requirements of the business degree program.

1 hour credit Designed for students who have no previous experience in keyboarding, this introductory course teaches students to type by touch while improving speed and comfort levels. Topics include home keys, space bar, keyboarding numbers, symbols and the alphabet. The goal is 20-28 wpm. with 60-100 percent accuracy.

1 hour credit This course covers production of correspondence, reports, and simple tables. Prerequisite: BUSN-1151 Basic Keyboarding; or equivalent competency (20 wpm minimum with 5 errors maximum); or consent of instructor.

1 hour credit Speedbuilding I is for students who want to attain speed and accuracy on straight-copy keying with a goal of 020-40 wpm.. Prerequisite: BUSN-1151 Basic Keyboarding; or equivalent competency (20 wpm minimum with 5 errors maximum); or consent of instructor.

1 hour credit This course is for students who want to attain speed and accuracy on straight-copy keying with a goal of 30-50 wpm. Prerequisite: BUSN-1153 Speedbuilding I; or equivalent competency (20 gross wpm minimum); or consent of instructor.

1 hour credit Rules established by the Association of Records Managers and Administrators (ARMA) are used for alphabetic, geographic, subject, and numeric filing. Basic computer skills, keyboarding, e-mail, Windows experience, and Internet access/skills are recommended. The student must be self motivated and must have access to the World Wide Web.
