A minimum of seven hours of work required per week including: discussions, labs, tests, and completing educational outcomes in course syllabus. A course organized around certain concepts fundamental to the better understanding of the principles of organismal biology specifi cally designed for the biology major. Classifi cation, evolution, evolutionary relationships, kingdoms, phyla, life cycles, comparative anatomy, comparative anatomy, comparative physiology, behavior, and ecological interactions will be emphasized.

Provides an intensive review of basic math and introduces business math applications using the electronic calculator and microcomputer 10-key pad touch system). Special emphasis is given to business situations and problems involving payroll, mathematics of buying and selling, simple and compound interest, bank discount loans, investments, real estate mathematics, inventory and overhead, depreciation, taxes, insurance, fi nancial statement analysis, statistics and graphs. Business software is used in solving selected application problems.

Stresses the principles of business writing and gives students extensive opportunities to apply these principles to writing situations by formatting documents using selected microcomputers and word processing software. Provides an opportunity to develop communication and critical thinking skills and strengthen organizational and presentation skills. Three hours of work weekly with children in a child care setting with one hour of seminar. While strengthening observational awareness, the student selects one child to observe case studyfor the semester and explores career opportunities in child development and child care. Basic music fundamentals, activities, and materials for the young child. The student with or without a background of musical training will be trained to assist children in early musical appreciation and skills. Recommended for those working with young children.
