Emphasizes basic offi ce procedures topics such as telephone and mail procedures, correspondence, purchasing equipment and supplies, maintenance of inventory control, business organizations and meetings, and job search. Also includes professionally specifi c topics such as family law, legal and general research, the court system, bankruptcy, personal and real property, general legal terminology and documents, client intake procedures, introduction to the law offi ce, and law offi ce ethics. Prerequisite: Keyboarding and Formatting or concurrent enrollment. Offered on demand.

Emphasizes the duties of a medical assistant in a medical offi ce environment, encompassing written communications, document production, telecommunications, fi ling and records management, fi nancial records, legal issues, and patient relations. Prerequisite: Basic keyboarding skill or concurrent enrollment.

A competency based course will broaden the skills of students who have taken either Keyboarding/Formatting and/or Document Processing and advance their abilities in word processing concepts and applications. Students will prepare a variety of documents and master specialized skills in both word processing and presentation software. The following business machines will also be presented: telephone, facsimile machine, transcriber, copier, laptop computer using both the alpha and numeric keypad. Prerequisite: Basic keyboarding skills.

Word Processing II will increase student profi ciency in using advanced word processing functions. Emphasis will be placed on adapting software for particular jobs and industries. Importing and Exporting information between software packages and generating complex documents such as newsletters and forms will be included. This course will allow students to maximize their effectiveness with word processing in the business offi ce and to continue to develop a professional portfolio. Prerequisite: Word Processing I SEC2093) with a "B" grade minimum. Offered on demand.

A course designed to expose students to the rules, equipment and fundamental skills required for participation in recreational golf.

Learn about different energy systems, principles of balance involved in total well being. Course will touch on exercise, diet, emotional balance, cholesterol and "super foods," secrets of enjoying exercise and thejoys of fi tness on the job.

An overview of all aspects of the game of Baseball. Students planning to transfer to a four-year institution will be able to satisfy a one-credit physical education activity requirement with this course. It will fall under the category of elective credit.
