Designed for the student who needs an algebra course to bridge the gap between beginning algebra and the more advanced courses in pre-calculus mathematics. Topics presented at the college algebra level will place strong emphasis on factoring, solving linear equations, and linear inequalities, exponents and radicals, solving quadratic equations, systems of equations, graphing, and introduction to functions and some advanced topics to prepare students for other subsequent mathematics courses. Prerequisite: A minimum grade of "C" in Intermediate Algebra DEV0334), or suffi cientplacement scores.

A combination of intermediate and college algebra. Review of algebraic operations, factoring, fractions, exponents and radicals, linear equations, quadratic equations, systems of equations, exponential, and logarithmic functions. Prerequisite: A minimum grade of "C" in Intermediate Algebra. Placement test scores arerequired for enrollment in this course.

General study of analytic geometry. Development of standard formulas dealing with the straight line, the circle and conic sections. Study of rates of changes of algebraic and trigonometric functions and applications of these. Differentiation of functions and some simple integration. Study of the functions of angles, the solution of right and oblique triangles, radian and degree measurements, trigonometric identities, and practical problems. Prerequisite: College Algebra MAT1023or suffi cient placement scores.

Basic concepts of statistics and probability applicable to all disciplines. Topics include data analysis, probability discrete and continuous distributions, sampling, and statistical inference. Prerequisite: College Algebra MAT1023or equivalent.

An introductory calculus course for certain business and related majors. The application of calculus to situations in business and economics, life sciences, and social sciences will be stressed. Recognition of mathematical equations and formulas and their algebraic rearrangement is assumed. Closed to students with credit in Calculus I MAT1055). Prerequisite: College Algebra MAT1023or Pre-Calculus Mathematics MAT1015). Offered on demand.

This course is a continuation of Analytic Geometry and Calculus I and includes differentiation and integration of trigonometric functions and transcendental functions. Application problems using integration for determining areas under curves, volumes, and lengths of arcs are studied. Prerequisite: A minimum grade of "C" in Analytic Geometry and Calculus IMAT1055).

Problems of transferring and moving goods from producer to consumer. Areas are: buying, selling, storing, transporting, standardizing, fi nancing, risk bearing, supplying market information and developing media used in national advertising. Intensive study made of free enterprise and the government's contribution, retailing and international marketing. Consumers' desires are held in sharp focus, with an emphasis on demographic factors.

People entering the workforce will discover that human relations skills are more important than ever before. The most effective human relations skills include communication, self-awareness, self-acceptance, motivation, trust, self-disclosure, and confl ict management. These skills will be discussed at length in the course. Students will develop self-awareness and personal assessment and learn about work adjustment, job satisfaction, and productivity.
