A study of weeds, pests, and diseases that effect crop production and grain storage. Emphasis will be placed on identification of and control by the use of herbicides, insecticides, and cropping practices.

This course is designed to increase the student's literacy in the area of animal agriculture so that the student will be better able to evaluate oral and written statements concerning the livestock industry.

This course is a study of health sanitation and handling of livestock. A study of diseases, insects, and other common ailments of livestock will be covered. Marketing, dehorning, castrating, vaccinating and handling of livestock will be studied and demonstrated with the aid of field trips. A study of the basic farm crops in Kansas including resources and techniques used to produce these crops, as well as soil properties and plant processes basic to understanding cropping practices and systems.

This course is designed to train students in practices and procedures for grain department supervisors at a local elevator. The student will know the proper procedure for receiving, handling, binning, conditioning, grading, and shipping of grain, methods of inventory control, marketing and pricing of grain.

This course is a study of the major nutrients, nutrient metabolism, requirements and deficiency symptoms, composition of feedstuffs and ration formulation. Practical application of these nutritional principles will be applied to the feeding of cattle, sheep, swine, and horses. This course is an introduction to the principles of Soil Science. The formation of soils, their classification, distribution, and management are studied. Fundamentals of physical, chemical, and biological properties of soils are included.
