This course is an introduction to the functions of the local public health department and the state and federal public health agencies that provide guidance and funding. Administrative functions such as strategic planning, budgeting, leadership and ethics in public health are introduced. In depth and real life, information relative to the actual programs and services provided by the local health department are presented in the context of the core functions and essential services of public health. Introduction to the fi ve section thesis, assessment instruments, data collection, research design, and statistical analysis. Students will develop strategies for evaluating the success of health education programs; implementing data collection and analysis through the use of the SPSS statistical package.
