Prerequisite: While this course is not limited to music majors, enrollment does require an audition and permission of the Instructor. Vocal Union is a choral ensemble of mixed voices specializing in popular styles of close harmony, vocal jazz, musical theatre, and "swing era" tunes.(Fall, Winter)

Collegiate Singers is a choral ensemble of 40-46 mixed voices specializing in the study and performance of a wide variety of music styles from Renaissance to Broadway. (Fall, Winter, Spring)

Prerequisite: Audition for placement. It is highly recommened that students take Music 246A and B. The small jazz ensemble or combo is the medium that carries the core curriculum of jazz education. Combo participation provides solo improvisation, style application, and a link to the jazz heritage beyond any other ensemble. The democracy and soul requisite for this type of communication brings a remarkable kinship indicative of true music making. The Jazz Combo enrollment includes 5-8 chamber groups that meet twice weekly for rehearsal, once with a coach and once without, and one time per week as part of the Jazz Master Class. Combos perform each semester in a joint concert with additional opportunities provided. (Fall, Winter, Spring)

This ensemble provides a challenging performance experience for percussion students regardless of playing ability. Membership in the Percussion Ensemble is open to all interested percussionists. (Fall, Winter, Spring)

Fee: $12.00 The Viking Marching Band is open to the entire student body at BYU-Idaho. The corpsstyle marching band includes woodwinds, brass, percussion, and color guard. The band provides music and entertainment for athletic events and student activities, as well as parades and invitational performances off campus. (Fall)

Fee: $12.00 Prerequisite: Desire to learn. The Viking Marching Band Drum Line is open to the entire student body at BYU-Idaho. The corps-style drum line includes battery and front line instrumentation. Joining with the band the group provides music and entertainment for athletic events and student activities, as well as parades and invitational performances off campus. (Fall, Winter)

Prerequisite: Audition. It is highly recommended that students take music 246 A and B. The University Jazz Band is a large jazz ensemble open, by audition, to music majors and non-music majors. A full curriculum is provided to help students learn the fundamentals of jazz. Guest artists often perform with the group in order to expose students to the highest levels of performance in so doing raise their standard. The University Jazz Band meets for an hour three times per week and performs each semester. (Fall, Winter, Spring)
