Prerequisite: Music 295. Music 294 must be taken concurrently. This course focuses on Impressionism and 20th century theory techniques, including atonality and serialism. (Fall, Winter, Spring)

Students are guided through the principles and application of analog mixers, audio signal flow, microphones, speaker and monitor systems, digital recording and editing. Assessments are made through mid-term and final projects, quizzes, hands-on assignments, and in-class performance. Opportunities are provided through departmental events and recording situations. Prerequisite: Music 296 A one-semester course presenting the history and general musical styles of Western (European) music from Greek/Roman times through the mid-18th century and the relationship of the music to the political, social, and religious environment in which these musical styles developed. Includes study of the musical genres of the Middle Ages, Renaissance, and Baroque Periods. (Fall, Winter, Spring)

Prerequisite: Music 301 A one-semester course presenting the history and general musical styles of western (European) music from the mid-18th century through the 19th century and the relationship of the music to the political, social, and religious environment in which these musical styles developed. Includes study of the music genres of the Classic and Romantic periods. (Fall, Winter, Spring)

Prerequisite: Music 302 A one-semester course presenting the history and general musical styles beginning circa 1900 to the present. An additional study of the vocal and instrumental music genres of the 20th century. (Fall, Winter, Spring)

Prerequisite: Music 246A/B, Music 294, Music 296, participation in a jazz ensemble and jazz combo, Music 401. Recommended that Music 301, 302, 303 be completed or taken concurrently. Students are lead through investigations into socio-political situations, stylistic avenues, biographical sketches, relative art forms, and other pertinent topics associated with jazz. Students present projects and complete assignments in form and analysis. Four exploratory exercises are required testing the students initiative, and a research paper is required. (Check current class schedule for offering)

Prerequisite: Music 194, 196, 256. Music Majors only. This one semester course expands basic conducting skills learned in Music 149. Topics include leadership, expressive gesture, score study, and developing the aural image. The class will function as an ensemble, and each student wil conduct assignments as frequently as possible. (Fall, Winter, spring)

Prerequisite: Music 308. This course is designed to prepare music major students for the demands of conducting (with a baton) instrumental ensembles of various sizes and musical abilities. Focus will be given to actual baton technique in order to communicate both tempo and rhythmic variants to musicians, as well as musical interpretation. (Alternating semesters)

Fee: $2.00 Prerequisite: A desire to sing. No audition necessary. Mixed chorus which performs a wide variety of musical styles in on-campus concerts and devotionals. (Fall, Winter, Spring)
