    This course will provide an opportunity to develop multidisciplinary units that take advantage of new technologies and the active learning environment of the Meadowlands Environmental Center. The course will provide hands-on experience with computers, digital cameras and software programs in designing multimedia lessons. Students will incorporate a variety of content areas into their coursework through collaboration with classmates and center staff. Each session will include art, language arts, science and social studies content workshops along with discussion and evaluation of software found in most schools. Students will develop project-based lessons and classroom presentations as part of the coursework. Participants do not need to be computer experts to succeed in this class.     An in-depth experience in video and audio editing, creating a CD, and soundtracks for multimedia classroom audio visual presentations. This course will make the transition from analog video and audio tape production to understanding and using the complete multimedia workstation. Skills in digital nonlinear video and audio editing, composing music on the computer and selecting and editing video and audio for enhanced classroom and interactive distance teaching presentations will be learned.     Class meets on-line. RamaMARS focuses on fostering a science pedagogy for K-12 which is creative and interdisciplinary (drawing on science, history, science fiction, art, political science, etc.) as well as collaborative through teamwork between teachers at the same school and with other schools (both as part of the RamaMARS consortium through Ramapo and as linked with the National MARS Millennium Project). Participants will design and lead a RamaMARS project with the class they teach and will meet on a monthly basis from January to May with the professor and with other participants to gather information on astronomy, science fiction texts, etc., to share resources, and report on progress. Participants will make use of web resources (especially http://www.mars2030.net and RamaMOO) and will submit regular progress reports and a final summative report on the project as part of the course requirement.     UnderSea 2040 will focus on fostering a science pedagogy for K-12 which is creative and interdisciplinary and collaborative (both as part of the UnderSea 2040 consortium through Ramapo and as linked with several oceanography and marine sciences national initiatives). Participants will design and lead an UnderSea 2040 project with the K-12 class that they teach and will meet on a roughly biweekly basis from February through May with the professors and with other participants to gather information on marine sciences, science fiction texts, etc., to share resources, and report on progress. Participants will make use of web resources (including RamaMOO) and will submit regular progress reports and a final summative report on the project as part of the course requirement.     This course will allow students to apply their experiences gathered from coursework in the Master of Educational Technology Program in a workshop atmosphere. The student will work on projects combining all aspects of multimedia production, including video, digital image creation, graphics, and presentation techniques using multimedia sources. Fieldwork will include location visits to nearby video production facilities with demonstrations from professionals in the field. This experience will expose the student to a total emersion in the multimedia field.
