    The topics studied in this course change from semester-to-semester, as well as from instructor-to-instructor. This course is the capstone of the Literature Major. Students should expect to engage in sophisticated discussion, to work independently, and to participate in--and lead--seminar discussions. The course will require students to call on the experience of their previous coursework in the major to produce polished writing informed by research. Recent topics include (among others): The Bible as Literature and Philosophy, The Working Class in American Literature, Fictional Histories of the Americas, and Classics of War Literature.     Summer Seminar is designed for initial first-year students who participate in the Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) Summer Program. It offers students the opportunity to interact in a structured setting with their fellow participants and their EOF academic advisor. They will meet once per week, for six weeks, and participate in a variety of individual and group activities designed to enhance their personal and educational experience.
