An intensive review of grammar and usage as well as an introduction to the purposes, practices, and techniques of editing standard English. The grammar section of the course will cover such topics as parts of speech and their uses, sentence elements and their effective uses, agreement, punctuation, and parallelism. Students will also be taught fundamental approaches to editing and the practical application of editing techniques.
