A weekly performance seminar, required of every student majoring in music for each semester of official enrollment at Mercer University. The class meets for two hours per week. Individual performance skills are developed in a nurturing environment where faculty openly discuss the students' presentations. Each student normally performs in class at least twice per semester. Classwork culminates in a public student recital each month. (S/U grading)

The following applied music courses are open only to students who have been admitted into one of the Bachelor of Music programs. These courses consist of one sixtyminute lesson per week during the semester. Students who enroll in these courses are charged the applied music fee for fifteen 60-minute lessons in the semester. Academic credit in these courses, however, is awarded at four hours per course and reflects the increase in practice and performance outside the scheduled lesson time required of students enrolled at this level of music training.
