Topics in clude: application of nursing process skills, critical think ing skills, supervision skills, client education skills, group and other TQM skills, and conflict resolution.

(Prerequisites: AHS 102, AHS 103, NSG 110 Corequisite: NPT 112) Focuses on and topics include health manage ment and maintenance and the prevention of illness, care of the individual as a whole, and deviations from the nor mal statement of health, and universal precautions; nurs ing care (The definition of nursing care includes using the nursing process, performing assessments, using critical thinking, and providing client education), treatment, pharmacology, medication administration and diet therapy of the cardiovascular, respiratory, endocrine, urinary, and gastrointestinal systems and clients.

(Prerequisite: Program admission) A study of the skeletal-muscular systems with emphasis on soft tissue injuries, fractures, fracture healing, as well as relevant complica tions. The study of other body systems as they relate to the treatment of orthopedic injuries.

(Pre/Corequisite: ORT 101) Introduction to the cast room to include different types of supplies, instruments, tech niques for the application of basic types of splints and casts. Introduction to traction set-ups. This course will include the application of casts and traction in the labora tory setting.

(Pre/Corequisite: ORT 101, 102) Provides an overview of the surgical techniques utilized in the orthopedic technol ogy profession and develops the fundamental concepts and principles necessary to successfully participate on an or thopedic surgical team. Topics include: orientation to orthopedic surgical techniques, asepsis and the surgical environment, basic instrumentation and equipment, prin ciples of the sterilization process, and application of steril ization principles.
