    (Prerequisite: SCT 100) Provides a study of databases. Topics include: advanced database management concepts, development of macros, data integration concepts, devel opment of user interfaces, relational database concepts, troubleshooting databases.

    (Prerequisites: CIS 2201, CIS 2211, CIS 2221) Design Methodology teaches students how to create and manage Web sites using FronPage, NetObjects Fusion Dynamic HTML, and various multimedia and CSS standards. Stu dents will also implement the latest strategies to develop third generation Web site, evaluation design tools, discuss future technology standards, and explore the incompatibil ity issues surrounding current browsers. The course focuses on theory, design and Web construction, along with infor mation architecture concepts, Web project management, and scenario development and performance evaluations.

    (Prerequisites: CIS 105, CIS 2201) Visual Java introduces students to visual programming with Java. Students will learn the fundamentals of the Java programming language and create Java programs with IBM VisualAge for Java or equivalent software. The course emphasizes designing a Graphical User Interface (GUI) via visual programming techniques, creating applets that will run on the World Wide Web, and creating applications that run on local machines. Students will create a fully functioning quiz program that tests users on local machines and the Web.

    (Prerequisites:CIS 2251) JavaScript Fundamentals teaches developers how to use the features of the JavaScript lan guage and the Netscape Navigator browser. Students learn how to write JavaScript programs that can be plugged into Web pages or customized, and examine advanced issues such as debugging techniques and JavaScript security.

    (Prerequisites: CIS 2201) Fundamentals of CGI Program ming using PERL and serverOSide Scripting teach stu dents how to use Common Gateway Interface (CGI) PERL programs and scripts on a Web server. Students will team how to write print-to-screen scripts, customize Web page hit counters, create and use business forms that inter face with text files, manipulate data in a database, work with a relations database via Open Database Connectivity (ODBC), and explore Web server security issues related to CGI. A survey of other products such as Microsoft Ative Server Pages, Netscape Live Wire, and Cold Fusion by Allaire will be discussed. Security issues using serverOside scripting will also be studied, and students will learn how to add security elements to their scripts.

    (Prerequisites: CIS 2191) Database Connectivity teaches students how to manipulate data in a database, work with relational database via Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) and learn how to work with different database systems. Students will learn to install and configure Cold Fusion, or equivalent software, and use the system to develop forms and applications to interact with file sys tems, e-mail and database servers.

    (Prerequisite: SCT 100, CIS 106) Provides students with classroom and laboratory experience in current and emerging network technology. Topics include safety, net working, network terminology and protocols, network standards, local-area networks (LANs), wide-area net works (WANs), Open System Interconnection (OSI) models, cabling, cabling tools, routers, router program ming, Ethernet, Internet Protocol (IP) addressing, and network standards. Particular emphasis is given to the use of decision-making and problem-solving techniques in applying science, mathematics, communication, and so cial-studies concepts to solve networking problems. In addition, instruction and training are provided in the proper care, maintenance, and use of networking software, tools, and equipment and all local, state, and federal safety, building and environmental codes and regulations.

    (Prerequisite: Students must have received their CCNA certification or have completed the courses in the Cisco CCNA Specialist.) This course focuses on advanced rout ing and using Cisco routers connected in local-area net works (LANs) and wide-area networks (WANs) typically found at medium to large network sites. Upon completion of this training course, the student will be able to select and implement the appropriate Cisco IOS services re quired to build a scalable routed network. This curriculum prepares the student for the BSCN exam one of four for the CCNP Certification.

    (Prerequisite: Students must have received their CCNA certification or have completed the courses in the Cisco CCNA Specialist.) The focus of this course is on how to use one or more of the available WAN permanent or dialup technologies to connect company sites. Students will be able to connect, configure, and troubleshoot the various elements of a remote network in a WAN environ ment. This course prepares students for the BCRAN exam one of four for the CCNP Certification.
