(Prerequisite: Program admission, CIS 1115) This course will provide knowledge and the practical experience nec essary to configure the most common server platforms. Lab exercises will provide students with experience of estab lishing security for the network environment.

(Prerequisite: CIS 1115; Pre/Corequisite CIS 1117) This course provides knowledge and the practical experience necessary to evaluate, implement and manage secure information transferred over computer networks. Topics include network security, intrusion detection, types of attacks, methods of attacks, security devices, basics of cryptography and organizational security elements.

(Prerequisite: CIS 1115) Students will learn how to plan, design, install and configure firewalls that will allow key services while maintaining security. This will include pro tecting the Internal IP services, configuring a firewall for remote access and managing a firewall.

(Prerequisite: CIS 1116, CIS 1117, CIS 1118, CIS 1119) This course serves as a capstone course for the information security specialist. The course will include implementing a plan to detect intruders, determine the dame caused, and discuss what precautions to use to avoid disasters.

(Prerequisite: CIS 105) Introduces Microsoft Windows event-driven programming. Common elements of Windows applications will be discussed, created, and manipulated using Microsoft's Visual Studio development environment. Topics include numeric data types and variables, decision making structures, validating input with strings and func tions, repetition and multiple forms, test files, arrays, lists and common dialog controls.

(Prerequisite: CIS 1121) Advanced Visual Basic.NET teaches client-server systems, n-tier development environ ments, relational databases, use of SQL to access data, the use of ADO.NET objects, methods and properties to access sand update relational and XML databases. Ad vanced features of Visual Basic are explored.

(Prerequisite: CIS 2221 with a C or better or instructor approval) This course covers the creation and manipula tion of 3D images and animation using Macromedia Flash and 3D creation software. Topics covered include (but not limited to) 3D imaging tools, 3D image plug-in require ments, a systematic approach to the creation of 3D im ages, 3D shading, 3D image coloring, 3D image file types, 3D image filtering, 3D image download requirements, compression, and animation download requirements.

(Prerequisite: SCT 100, CIS 106) Introduces networking technologies and prepares students to pass CompTIA's broad-based, vendor independent networking certification exam, Network +. Covers a wide range of material about networking, from careers in networking to local area net works, wide area networks, protocols, topologies, transmis sion media, and security. Focuses on operating network management systems, and implementing the installation of networks. It reviews cabling, connection schemes, the fundamentals of both the LAN and WAN technologies, TCP-IP configuration and troubleshooting, remote con nectivity, and network maintenance and troubleshooting.

(Prerequisite: CIS 1123) This course covers advanced web graphics techniques, and multimedia for the web including sound, music, and digital video using Adobe Premiere. Topics covered include (but not limited to) sound usage, sound file types, sound download requirements, sound recording, sound editing, sound tools, creation of digital video, editing and cropping digital video, special digital video effects, digital video file types, digital tools, morphing, and other advanced graphics and multimedia topics.

(Prerequisite: CIS 1140 or instructor approval) This course covers Web Server Administration techniques. Topics include installation, configuration, access control, web site management, database management, security, and other related topics. Tools used include Microsoft IIS Server, Microsoft SQL Server, and/or Apache Server.
