This course provides opportunities for teacher candidates to learn and understand how to teach and modify environments and experiences to maximize the learning of students with disabilities, developmental delays, and special abilities and to collaborate with other educators, families, and community resources. Guide field experiences are required to meet Georgia Rule 505-301-4f.

This course provides opportunities for teacher candidates to study the scope and sequence of strategies and methods to the teaching of comprehension, vocabulary, study skills, and critical reading in the content areas which are aligned to the Georgia Performance Standards. Guided field experiences in grades six through twelve are required.

Introduction to issues and competencies that are central to a commissioned officer’s responsibilities. These initial lessons establish a framework for understanding officership, leadership, and Army values. Additionally, the course will address “life skills,” including fitness and time management.

Introduction to the fundamental components of service as an officer in the Army. Overview of the purpose and scope of Army ROTC with emphasis on the role of today’s Army, officer ship, leadership, and values. Basic skills include rappelling, familiarization with military weapons, and unit organization. Non-traditional format: Familiarization with military weapons, basic army skills to include rappelling, land navigation, first aid, patrolling and tactical operations.

An introductory study of basic skills needed to become an effective leader and military officer. Basic concepts and application of land navigation, first-aid, fitness, problem-solving techniques, critical thinking, rappelling, and an understanding of equal opportunity/sexual harassment.
