A composition course that develops writing skills beyond the levels of proficiency required by ENGL 1101, that emphasizes interpretation and evaluation, and that incorporates a variety of more advanced research methods. Course will include an information literacy component (instruction on documentation/plagiarism and information retrieval). If a student does not pass the documentation/plagiarism test (after repeated attempts) and/or does not submit a passing research paper, the highest grade the student can receive in the course is a D, regardless of the quality of other graded work. A grade of C or better is required in this course.
