Prerequisite: MUSC 1314. A laboratory course involving ear training, sight singing and transcription of jazz idioms, as well as a basic introduction to standard, non-jazz keyboard techniques (including scales and triads).

Prerequisite: MUSC 2311 with a C or better. A laboratory course involving ear training, sight singing and transcription of jazz idioms, in more advanced context than the previous semester.

Prerequisite: MUSC 2312 with a C or better. A laboratory course involving ear training, sight singing and transcription of jazz idioms.

Prerequisite: MUSC 1214. An introduction to physical acoustics and physical properties of sound, wave mechanics, acoustic measurements, tuning, and temperament, perceptual properties of sound, microphone techniques, psychoacoustics, basic electricity, principles and practice of recording, and an overview of the recording studio.

Prerequisite: MUSC 2510 with a C or better. An introduction to the basics of digital recording technology. Topics include digital recording systems, microphone design, microphone placement, and basic mixing technique.

Prerequisite: MUSC 2511 with a C or better. Continuation of MUSC 2511. Topics include recording console theory and operation, advanced microphone design and techniques, signal processing and digital effects equipment, hard-disc recording and reproduction, multi-track recording, multi-channel mixing, signal processing, and issues in multiple microphone arrays and stereo imaging.

Prerequisite: Admission by audition only. This course includes Jazz Band and several Jazz Combos. The course is divided into sections by audition. Auditions are open to all CSU students. Emphasis is place don written music and imprivisation, using a variety of repertoire from historical and current composers.

Prerequisites: 4 credits of MUSC 1070. Rehearsal and performance of orchestral and string ensemble literature. The course exists as a variety of ensembles: CSU Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, and String Ensembles (of varying instrumentation: String Quartet, String Trio, etc.). Open to all students on an audition basis. The repertoire provides experience of a variety of musical styles. May be repeated for credit.
