3 hours. Prerequisite: Exemption from or successful completion of READ 0099. This course will provide the student with a general knowledge of homicide investigation procedures. The student will become familiar with the distinctions between cause and manner of death and the determinations of homicide, suicide, accidental and undetermined deaths. A particular focus will be on the actual mechanisms of death such as gunshot wounds, edged weapon injuries, blunt force trauma, drowning, burning, poisoning, and various forms of asphyxia.
