This course provides an overview of the effects of disabilities and risk factors on the development of young children, birth to age five, and on their families. The referral, assessment, planning, and intervention process is reviewed. Models of intervention practices are explored. Legal and ethical issues related to early intervention/special education are examined. Field experience is integrated into course activities. Prerequisite Additions: A course in child or human development or educational psychology. Prerequisites: Child or Human Development or Educational Psych course.
