This course provides students with the history and evolution of event management; explores the myriad of types of events that are offered in the marketplace; evaluates an event based on information gained; and presents an event that the student will produce, including all that is involved in running a successful event form inception to completion. This course will teach the student how to effectively communicate goodwill and promote a favorable relationship with a variety of administrators, personnel, the community, and the media.

This course is a prerequisite for Field Experience in Athletic Administration I and II and Applied Research in Athletic Administration I and II. The purpose of this course is to offer individual advising about careers in athletics so that a student can successfully glean skills and techniques from the field experience. Students will learn how to create a professional résumé and cover letter to prepare them for future professional experiences. Students who are able to complete an applied field experience will be responsible for locating the site for their applied field experience, obtaining approval from the instructor, and applying for the applied field experience. These students will take ATH 670 Applied Field Experience I in the following term. Students are encouraged to complete an applied field experience; however, students who are unable to complete an applied field experience will propose an applied research project and take ATH 671 Applied Research in Athletic Administration I in the following term.

This is part I of a 16-week capstone course allowing students to culminate an in-depth, applied athletic administrative experience before entering the athletic industry. In this course, students will commence the applied field experience and glean the skills necessary to function effectively in the applied field experience. In addition, this course till teach students about the purpose of an electronic portfolio, how to map out the electronic portfolio in advance, and how to create an electronic portfolio plan. Prerequisite: successful completion of ATH 0560.

This is part I of a 16-week capstone course allowing students to culminate an in-depth, applied athletic administrative experience before entering the athletic industry. In this course, students will complete an applied research project. In addition, this course till teach students about the purpose of an electronic portfolio, how to map out the electronic portfolio in advance, and how to create an electronic portfolio plan. Prerequisite: successful completion of ATH 0560.

This is part II of a 16-week capstone course allowing students to culminate an in-depth, applied athletic administrative experience before entering the athletic industry. In this course, students will complete the applied field experience that they commenced in ATH 0670 and will finalize and present the electronic portfolio. Prerequisite: Successful completion of ATH 0670.

This is part II of a 16-week capstone course allowing students to culminate an in-depth, applied athletic administrative experience before entering the athletic industry. In this course, students will complete the applied research project and will finalize and present the electronic portfolio. Prerequisite: Successful completion of ATH 0671.

This course is an introduction to the sports medicine team, legal considerations, environmental concerns, and the profession of athletic training. Students will be able to promote athletic training as a professional discipline in order to educate athletes, the general public, and the physically active. This course includes a minimum of 50 hours of scheduled clinical observations at an approved site, under the supervision of a Certified Athletic Trainer.

Emphasis will be on the basic concepts of preventing athletic injuries, injury recognition and assessment, and care and treatment procedures for proper management of athletic injuries. Additionally, students will be instructed in the arts and skills of taping and wrapping. This course includes a minimum of 50 hours of scheduled clinical observations at an approved clinical site, under the supervision of a Certified Athletic Trainer. Prerequisite: ATTR 1100.

Students will learn to recognize, assess, and treat the acute injuries and illnesses of athletes and others involved in physical activities, preventing disease transmission, emergency care of injuries such as splinting, and to provide proper medical referral.

This course will provide students with the basic concepts of health, such as nutritional issues, physiological concerns, and wellness screening. Students will also gain an appreciation for lifetime fitness activities and an understanding of how community programs provide necessary health services to the general public.
