This Capstone Project is the culminating event of the IA Program. It is an Interdisciplinary Arts Event conceived, written, created and produced by the student and the production team he or she has assembled. While interdiscriplinary in nature, the project must focus on the candidate's major artistic area of interest (In this case, the Dance Arts), be outlined in writing and approved by the Program Administrator and Artistic Director and appropriate faculty in order to be scheduled and marketed for public performance. It may take the form of an artistic work or lecture demonstration but must emcompass some aspect of performance or presentation by the Masters Candidate. Students will be assisted by facutly and peers as they develop their Capstone Projects. The project must demonstrate excellence in inclusion of the Interdisciplinary Arts with the area of Dance Arts and be accompanied by a contextual essay describing the history, evolution, intention, purpose and methods by which the student created the Capstone Event. Prerequisite: 30 credits of coursework in the EIA program.

3.00 Credits
Students will examine the concepts and practices of Collaborative Artmaking and arts infusion into the classroom. Methods and techniques of dramatization, music, dance, and visual art utilized as learning vehicles are investigated and analyzed. The structure of the "classroom" is reexamined as a potential "learning stage" and reevaluated as an arts-friendly environment wherein numerous learning styles are addressed. Balancing creative chaos with an atmosphere of orderly systematic learning, grading and evaluation, arts as a delivery system for teaching math, science, history and social studies, and the role of the arts in teaching character and emotional intelligence are all examined. Arts Management beyond the classroom is also explored. An additional three (3) credits can be earned in this course by presenting a 9 week implementation of any combination of the above techniques at the grade level of the candidate's choice, for which students will submit complete thematic units, a calendar of lesson plans, and a proposed implementation schedule.

Special Topics in Interdisciplinary Arts involves the qualitative analysis of emerging issues in trends in interdisciplinary arts. Topics are indentified and determined via an individualized process of negotiation with course professor/instructor, and are to reflect an advanced level of inquiry and problem-solving related to the student's program of study. Students may choose to work with a local or other arts organization that creates interdisciplinary Arts productions or events, or they may on or create a special project involving arts and education, arts for social change, expressive arts therapies, community arts/cultural development, arts for diverse populations/ intercultural development, or any combination thereof. They may also choose to conduct independent qualitative research in Interdisciplinary Arts in their area(s) of interest.

Applied dissertation involves data collection/ implementation, the applied dissertation (final report) and the final approval process. Content and format issues, as well as recommendations for further research, are highlighted. Dissemination of the dissertaion and possible outlets for publication are covered. This seminar will culminate in the completion of the third corresponding benchmark, the applied dissertation (final report). Credits for this seminar will be assigned following approval of the applied dissertation (final report).

This course focuses on the latest advances in the expanded field of computer networks and their impact on information systems applications. Communications principles and techniques of information acquisition, storage, retrieval, transfer reception, and security are presented. Computer communications and the design if distributed systems are examined. Topics included voice; image and data transmission; radio and satellite networks; the Integrated Service Digital network, (ISDN); electronic data interchange (EDI); protocols and software; network management; network security and control; internet-working; and LANs, MANs, and WANs.

The intent of this course is to provide students with a synthesis of the knowledge base required as the intellectual underpinning for successful practice as a school administrator. The program comprehensive examination is administered as part of this course.

This course provides an opportunity to observe, interview, work with, and perform the duties of administrators in the actual work setting. Course requirements include a minimum of 150 contact hourse, completion of a leadership portfolio, and seminars related to the role and resposibilities of the educational leader.
