    (3 credits) An introduction to the fundamentals and principles of typography including typographic history, recognition of type families, hand and computer generation and manipulation of type and creative typography. Basic letter form design, measurement systems, and compositional principles used in designing with type will be emphasized. Lab fee. Prerequisite: GRA 1117 & GRA 1103 with a grade of C or higher.

Students will work with a page layout application to design, layout, illustrate and typeset publications, advertisements, brochures, fl yers, and newsletters.     (3 credits) This is an advanced course in the design and preparation of Web sites. Focus is from a graphics point of view and emphasis is placed on Web page design and layout. Lab fee. Prerequisite: GRA 1103, GRA 1117, COP 2830, and PGY 2801 with a grade of C or better.

    (3 credits) This course is an introduction to an industrystandard vector graphics program used to create and manipulate graphic images. Adobe Illustrator fundamental concepts and features are introduced and applied to a variety of graphics applications. Lab fee. Prerequisite: GRA 1103 and GRA 1117 with a grade of C or better.

    (4 credits) This course is a portfolio development course. Professional business practices in communications are covered. Students will design and produce a portfolio of projects demonstrating profi ciency in computer graphics. Lab fee. Prerequisite: GRA 1103, GRA 1117, GRA 1202, PGY 2801, GRA 2151, GRA 2122, and CGS 1572 with a grade of C or better.

    (3 credits) This course is designed to provide students with practical experience in the application of graphic design knowledge acquired in the classroom. The intern will work in a professional setting in graphic design, desktop publishing, prepress or Web design to gain insight into the actual function and operation of the workplace. The student will be required to perform duties usually associated with the graphic design profession, work a minimum of 150 (unpaid) hours, maintain a journal documenting job responsibilities, secure samples of his/her work, and satisfy employer and faculty evaluations. Prerequisite: GRA 2181.

    (90 contact hours, 3 occupational credits) SP An introductory course to health occupations and the healthcare delivery system. Meets the Department of Education requirement of 90 contact hours. Overview of the following principles are included: interpersonal and communication skills, legal and ethical responsibilities, wellness and illness concepts, safety and security procedures, response in emergency situations, infection control procedures, computer literacy skills, employability skills and blood borne disease precautions including AIDS. Lab fee.

    (55 contact hours, 2 occupational credits) Students in this course must already be a certifi ed nurse aide. After completing this minicourse the student is qualifi ed as a Home Health Aide. Student must have previously completed the 90 contact hour course of Health Careers CORE or have achieved an equivalency of such in a C.N.A. Program. Lab Fee. Liability insurance fee. Prerequisite: Health Careers CORE (HCP 0001), 90 contact hours or equivalency, completion of a nursing assistant program and/or be certifi ed as a certifi ed nurse aide. CPR C Health Care Provider Card and AIDS in Florida, four hours instruction. Be free of offenses on background check, and negative drug analysis check. Prerequisite: HCP 0001C with a C or better.

    (125 contact hours, 4.16 occupational credits) This course prepares students for certifi cation testing as a nurse aide and as a home health aide. Once certifi ed, graduates can work in nursing home or community agencies such as home health and hospitals. Topics covered in the course include continuation of topics introduced in the health career CORE course and in addition: perform physical comfort and safety functions; provide biological, psychological, and social support; perform supervised management functions; and specifi c services related to the home health aide. A clinical lab is a component of this course. Laboratory fee and liability insurance fee included. Be free of offenses on background check. Prerequisite: HCP 0001C with a C or better.

    (75 contact hours, 2.5 occupational credits) Students enrolled in this course must have already completed the health career CORE, nursing assistant and home health aide course or already be certifi ed as such. Upon completion of this course, graduates are qualifi ed to be tested for the certifi ed nursing assistant licensure if they have not already done so previously. Patient care assistants are qualifi ed to work in nursing home, hospital, and other healthcare facilities such as home health agencies. Topics included in this course are nursing assistant skills related to care of the adult patient in hospital settings. A clinical lab is a component of this course. Laboratory fee included. Prerequisites: HCP 0430C or HCP 0300 with a C or better.
