(3 credits) F, SP A thorough overview course on all aspects of the world of business. Emphasis on the interaction of human relations, management, marketing, fi nance and banking, ethics and social responsibility, global issues, accounting, insurance, and the legal aspects of business.

(1 credit) as needed This is a one-hour course featuring applied work in a professional fi eld. Included in the requirements is an eight hour day with a professional in the career in which the student is interested. May be repeated for a maximum of three credit hours.

(1 credit) as needed This course is a one-hour seminar featuring the use of concepts and tools to defi ne and understand the moral and ethical dilemmas involved in business and corporate spheres of activity. Issues include: whistle blowing, product safety, legislation and regulation, pollution, social responsibility to the community, and public rights versus private rights.

(3 credits) as needed Provides an opportunity for travel study or other in-depth research of topics not offered in other courses or on topics of special current signifi cance. Students may repeat the course (focusing on a different topic) for an additional three hours of credit. Required group travel may be used as an instructional paradigm.

(3 credits) Study of relationship between human activities and natural environment. Earth (its structure, climactic conditions, and natural resources) is used as background for understanding man's life and activities.

(4 credits) GE A study of the history and processes of the physical features of the Earth, its internal dynamics and its surfi cial weathering, erosion, and sedimentary processes. Laboratory component includes examination of mineral, rock, and fossil specimens, interpretation of topographic maps and aerial photographs. Selected area fi eld trips exemplifying some common geomorphic processes may be involved. Prerequisite: REA 0002 and ENC 0020 with a grade of C or better or score out on appropriate placement test.

(3 credits) GE Elementary study of topics from meteorology, geology, and astronomy, including the atmosphere, various weather phenomena, gas laws, types of rocks, surface features of earth and processes which caused them, internal structures of earth, earth-moon system, solar system, and other stellar systems.

(3 credits) This is an introductory level studio course in the fundamentals of graphic design and visual communication. This includes terminology, history, and techniques for production utilizing traditional and electronic skills, tools, and equipment. The development of creative problem solving as it relates to the design process will be emphasized. Lab Fee. (3 credits) This course is an introduction to the computer as a tool for creating graphic design and artwork. Students will learn the fundamentals of operating a desktop computer and peripheral devices. Students will examine current industry-standard desktop publishing, vector-based drawing, and image editing software. Design concepts featuring capabilities of computer graphics will be studied. Lab Fee.
