In the first phase of the course, students learn to create their own estimating programs using computer spreadsheets with a focus on Microsoft Excel. Students perform labor and material takeoffs, cost calculations, and make adjustments for general conditions, bonds, insurance, alternates, work conditions, overhead, and profit.
