An examination of the leisure and recreation behaviors of people in different cultures. The cultural, political, social, and economic influences on leisure and recreation behaviors will be examined.

This is an introductory course designed to prepare participants for backpacking in low-level terrain in a safe and environmentally sound manner. The course covers equipment, clothing, food preparation, route selection, safety and risk management, environmental practices, and "no trace" camping.
