    This course is an introduction to transthoracic echo, Doppler, M-mode, stress echo, transesophageal, intravascular cardiac ultrasound, 3D and contrast echocardiography. Doppler waveforms, two-dimensional images, color flow mapping, pressure half-time and the Bernoulli equation are discussed. Clinical experiences will be provided in in-patient and out-patient settings. Pre-requisites: BIO 211, CVT 101, MAT 140, MED 105 Co-requisites: BIO 212, INF 101

The administration of medications, dosages, actions, side effects, indications, contraindications and interactions are presented. Emphasis is placed on the importance of patient education concerning medication therapy, with a focus on cardiac pharmacology. Contemporary legal issues in pharmacology are examined.     A course covering the principles of ultrasound physics and instrumentation, and echocardiography. The student learns the proper use of equipment controls, the best approach for Doppler studies, and two-dimensional studies. The student is introduced to the fundamentals of sound waves, the Doppler effect, transducer basics, interaction of sound and media, recognition of 31 artifacts and safety.     This course presents an overview of Doppler principles and diagnostic measurements utilized to evaluate pathological cardiovascular malfunctions. Such topics include: pressure half-time, right ventricular systolic pressure calculations, mitral and aortic continuity equations, regurgitation fraction, PISA, and diastolic dysfunction. Clinical experience will be completed in cardiology settings. Pre-requisites: CVT 114, PHY 101, PSY 101 Co-requisites: CVT 223, CVT 224, REL 101, SOC 101

    This course is a continuation of Echocardiography I, with special emphasis on heart pathologies. Emphasis is placed on carotid ultrasound, venous ultrasound, arterial ultrasound, and other peripheral vascular tests, including the interpretation of the studies.     (institutional-non-transferable) Designed for students who need special attention to the fundamentals of spelling, punctuation, parts of speech and sentence structure. It includes the process of writing, including vocabulary and diction, organization, style and revision. Pre-requisite: Satisfactory score on Reading Comprehension placement exam or a grade of C+ or better in ENG 001. A minimum grade of "C+"or better is required in ENG 002.

    A systematic and practical introduction to the techniques of effective college writing. A review of grammar and syntax is included. The course provides the library, research and internet skills necessary to write short expository papers as well as a longer research paper incorporating standard APA documentation. Pre-requisite: Satisfactory score on English Proficiency Test or a grade of "C+" or better inENG 001, ENG 002.

    This course is an introduction to significant works of world literature. It is an expository writing course that surveys literature from ancient Greece through modern periods, including such authors as Dante, Zola, Dickens, Chaucer, Chekhov, and Blake. Pre-requisite: ENG 101
