Prerequisite: Completion of 25 technical credits Registration is only upon written recommendation of advisor. This course is a field experience in the laboratory facilities of an industrial firm. Designed for students in the Mechanical Engineering Technology program to obtain industrial experience as a supplement to college studies prior to career employment. Seminar evaluation visitations are included.

Velocity and acceleration analysis on a plane. Design and analysis of 4-bar linkages, cams, gears, and other mechanisms using graphical and analytical methods.

Prerequisite: MEC 141 LEC 3 hrs., LAB 3 hrs., Course fee $30 This course is the rational design and selection of machine elements considering their economics and manufacturability. The principles of strength of materials and mechanics are applied to the design of bearings, shafts, gears, springs, brakes and other elements of importance in mechanical systems. Consideration of service criteria, operating environment and cost. Emphasis on developing a systematic design philosophy.

Prerequisite: An introductory course in Mechanical Engineering Technology This course is an examination of selected topics or issues in Mechanical Engineering Technology. Topics may differ each time the course is offered. Students should consult the department chairperson for further information. Familiarity with the computer keyboard is recommended for Media Studies courses.

Prerequisite: ENG 025 LEC 3 hrs., LAB 0 hrs., Course fee $40 Multimedia I is a survey course designed to allow students to explore, discuss, develop, and use multimedia technology. This computer-based course offers an extensive overview of the technologies of multimedia. Students engage in issues related to usability, management, and distribution. Topics include multimedia development and design, media elements, and emerging hardware and software trends. A multimedia prototype project that demonstrates conceptual and technical understanding is required.

Prerequisite: MED 110 LEC 3 hrs., LAB 0 hrs., Course fee $40 An advanced course designed to allow students to apply the theory and basic practical knowledge presented in Multimedia I. Students will apply their knowledge using a time-based multimedia authoring software to create animations and multimedia productions for DVD, local networks, or the Internet. Students incorporate traditional media production elements such as video and audio into interactive multimedia presentations. Conceptualization, user interface design, and prototyping are key course elements. A multimedia prototype project that demonstrates conceptual and technical understanding is required.

LEC 3 hrs, LAB 0 hrs., Course fee $40 Learn all about the creative side of television and multimedia design. This is a class that looks at the importance, influence, and meaning of visual images designed for use in electronic/digital media. Students learn about camera angles, lighting, color, motion, graphics, sound, screen space limitations, and more through lectures, viewing films, television programs, and multimedia examples. Students apply knowledge through several hands-on activities. Comparisons between television and multimedia images are closely examined. Students apply knowledge of media aesthetics by producing projects using the television production studio and personal computer.

Prerequisite: ENG 025 LEC 3 hrs., LAB 0 hrs. This course offers an historical and content-analysis approach to the study of broadcast communications. Included will be the research and study of systems, regulations, program genres, social effects on audiences, and the future of the industry. This will be accomplished via discussions, handouts, reading assignments, and in-class viewing and listening as well as viewing and listening assignments.

LEC 3 hrs., Lab 0 hrs., Course Fee $40 This course will provide students with theory and training in the area of digital content development for digital media productions. Software and hardware training in digital video, audio, animation, and graphics will be introduced. In addition, the appropriate use of these areas of content in developing digital media productions as well as interface design will be discussed.

LEC 3 hrs., LAB 0 hrs., Course fee $40 This course introduces students to the basic operation of a television studio and the production process. Students learn techniques and develop skills in various studio functions including camera, switching, sound, lighting, special FX, scriptwriting, and directing. Collaboration and teamwork are emphasized.
